FAQ

How do I set up a game?
The host creates a game, sets the zone and rules, then shares the code with friends. Players join the lobby using that code, pick their roles (exactly one fugitive, the rest hunters), then the host starts the round.
How do I invite players?
After setting up a game, the host shares the lobby code (or link, or QR code) with friends. Everyone enters the lobby first. Once all players are in and roles are chosen, the host starts the game and players open the map.
What is the 1-player bot demo?
The demo mode lets you try seekr solo with a “bot fugitive.” It’s a quick way to see how the map, tagging, and extraction work. The real excitement, however, comes with a live host and multiple players.
How big can I set the game area?
You can set the play zone up to a 200 km radius — more than enough for city-wide or even regional hunts.
Who can see who during the game?
Hunters see the fugitive’s last known ping with an uncertainty circle (based on the fugitive ping interval). Hunters can also see other hunters on the map. Fugitives see only their own location, the play zone, and (after reveal) the extraction point with a live distance meter. Hunters never appear on the fugitive’s map. ✅
What happens if I go out of bounds?
If you leave the designated play zone, your screen will flash red with an “out of bounds” warning. You have 30 seconds total (centrally tracked) to return inside the zone. If the timer expires, you immediately lose and the round ends for everyone. ✅
What is the proximity alert?
If a hunter comes within about 250 m of the fugitive, the hunter’s screen gets a yellow border and a distance meter. Fugitives also get an alert, but only when a hunter is within 75 m. It’s designed to add tension for both sides.
When is the extraction location revealed?
By default, fugitives get the extraction point at the halfway stage of the game, while hunters only receive a notification that it has been disclosed. In the final minutes, the extraction radius may expand to make escape possible. This can all be customised in the game setup. Fugitives also see their exact distance in meters to the extraction point. ✅
Can the extraction point be moved?
Yes. If the extraction point appears in an inaccessible place (e.g. water or motorway), the fugitive can relocate it up to two times per round. Each relocation has a short cooldown, and the new point is always placed within the play zone. ✅
How do fugitives win?
By reaching the extraction point before time runs out. You only need to be within the extraction radius when the timer ends.
How do hunters tag fugitives?
A tag is registered automatically when a hunter comes within the configured tag distance of the fugitive (default ~2 m).
What happens when the round ends?
When time expires, the fugitive escapes, or they are tagged by a hunter, or someone is out-of-bounds past the 30s budget, the round ends for everyone. All players see the same results screen showing the winner, key stats (time left, distance at extraction, tags), and a button to return to the lobby or start a new round. ✅
What are the advanced options?
Seekr is highly customisable. In advanced options, hosts can adjust game length, tag distance, extraction reveal time, fugitive ping interval, starting and final extraction radius, when the extraction boost kicks in, and proximity alert behaviour for both fugitives and hunters. This lets you tune the game for quick sprints or long hunts.
Is there in-game chat?
Yes. Players can use the in-game chat to coordinate during rounds. Chats are room-based, visible to all players in the game, and are automatically deleted after ~48 hours along with GPS pings.
Do I need an app?
No app needed — just open seekr.run in Safari or Chrome on your iPhone or Android. It also works on desktop.
Is it free to play?
Yes, gameplay is completely free. There are no power-ups to buy.
Is it safe and private?
Play in safe areas and respect local laws. Locations are shown as uncertainty circles (not exact dots). GPS pings and chat logs are automatically purged after ~48 hours. For details, see our Privacy Notice.
